Paper, Glue and Scissors

We are setting aside the crayons and markers for the month in art class and using paper, scissors and glue to create works of art. I can see that this is going to be a fun challenge for them to think outside "the box".

With that in mind... I read the book Perfect Square by Michael Hall. The book uses illustrations to demonstrate how to transform a perfect square in to many different things.

Students started with a square to create the foundation of their project and then added other scraps to enhance.

Side Profile Snowmen in Snow Globes

We took a look at side profiles today to create profiles of snowmen in snow globes! The best part was smearing glitter paint all over the globe to make it look like it was snowing!

Matisse Snowmen...

This week we looked at work by Matisse and read a book about snowmen for inspiration!
Students used scissors and glue to create their work today!

A Chilly Self Portrait

Last week we took a closer look at eyes and how to draw them. We also discussed patterns and designs on snow gear!

The upper level included a writing element to their work.
