Class Dino

We started this project with plain empty boxes in an effort to create a work of art to cover the drinking fountain in the hall that is turned off. Unfortunately, we had to move it out of the hall but it gets to be in our room now!
We stacked them and brainstormed some ideas of what it could be....
a giraffe, building, giant banana, zebra... we let those thoughts simmer and Next, we painted the boxes green for more inspiration.
We stacked again and some more ideas came to us but we landed on dinosaur!
We voted on how the arms should look, if it had sharp nails or soft... and finally placed a mirror next to him to compare our eyes with his/hers, nose, teeth, nails etc....
The dino has been a fun addition to the room!

Heart Art

We have been discussing portraits as well as reading the book "My Heart is Like Zoo". In the book the shape of the heart turns into many different kinds of animals...... The book was our inspiration for today...

Faces Everywhere!

This happened at snack today... We happened to have a variety of things for snack and before I knew it she was creating a portrait complete with popcorn hair!

Nature Inspired Person....

A little ephemeral art at school today. We have been talking quite a bit about portraits and the pieces to put together to draw people and animals. One student created a person on his own today. Then, others joined in to create animals out of rocks and pine cones!
Fun day in the play yard!
