With the rain that we have had the last several days it seemed like a great time create a rainy garden scene by blowing watercolor across the page with straws to illustrate the rain and the stems of the flowers.
The kids had a great time using straws. It's trickier than one might think to blow paint across the page!

Mini Spring Greenhouses!
Inside this little greenhouse is a "magic" bean! After the kids created them we hung them in them in the class windows. Some are beginning to sprout already! After the very long winter (that everyone is tired of talking about) it's fun to see a little growing project happening inside while the trees are blooming simultaneously outside!

Secondary Color Spring Flowers!
We practiced color mixing over the week using paint this time. Students made bright and beautiful flowers using paper plates and mixing the color right on the plate!
Ahhhh, it's nice to see color!

Bring on the Color!
In this snowy month of March we are trying to add a little color by starting color exploration this week!
Students in the younger classrooms used oil pastel to mix
colors and had a great time! We did a little "art math" ex) R+Y= O and
worked on sounds too! At the end they made their own rainbow making the
secondary colors by mixing the primary colors!
The upper level made their own color wheels by cutting up catalogs destined for the recycling bin.
We also created flower prints this week by using the end of the celery to stamp! The kids enjoyed adding their own personal touch to their work!

Arrrgh! Pirates and Helicopters!
This was a collaborative project between siblings created from a damaged frame that had no glass, torn aeronautical maps and painted paper. The pirate ship and helicopter were added at the end. Another work in progress! The lack of glass gives an opportunity to add more treasures to the work!
