Fish Prints!

My son has found a love of fishing this summer. I do not share the same desire but I appreciate his interest and have decided to encourage his exploration of the subject through art. Our last visit to the library we found some fish books. Jangles: A Big Fish Story by David Shannon is a wonderful tale of the big fish that gets away over and over again. David Shannon illustrates in a magical way that only he can. Yesterday after we read the book I pulled out my rubber fish and we did a few fish prints on t-shirts. Then we fish printed paper, scraps of cloth and just about anything that we could :)  Another great fishing book for inspiration is H is for Hook: An Alphabet Fish Book by Judy Young

Dinosaur Days

Today was a Dino Day! I found fun little excavation kits with little tools included. The kids worked on digging and brushing out tiny bones. Then I took a bag of rubber fossils that I bought and put them around the yard for the kids to search for. After all of that we needed a snack and book. So I read the book Dig Those Dinosaurs by Lori Haskins.

Summer Scavenger Hunts.....

Today was a perfect summer chill out day at home. The kids were looking for something to do this afternoon after lunch so I gave them my phone and sent them on a scavenger hunt. They collected images for the hunt! The first one was a rainbow theme.

  

The next hunt was to find something striped, something polka dotted and something checkered....

After all the hunting we did mini balance rock sculpture...

Kid Art Gallery!!!

The end of school hit and we had an abundance of awesome art that came home!
What to do with it all?....
Our laundry room at home has turned into a gallery that is easily changed out by the artists themselves because we use clipboards!
