Letter of the Week!
Each day we focus on a new letter and try to come up with words that begin with it. Today the letter was K. This is a funky kangaroo. After lunch students take out their notebooks and draw a picture beginning with the letter of the day and label it. We have been having a great time coming up with new vocabulary this way and practicing drawing skills!
Pattern Play
We have been discussing Matisse quite a bit lately because the Matisse exhibit is at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. We have been focusing on his use of pattern mainly. To practice, each student had a worksheet like this (see below) to fill in with different patterns.
This student was experimenting with letter patterns.

Keith Haring Olympic Art
We took a look at some Keith Haring art for inspiration last week.
Since we spent quite a while discussing the Olympics and they came to a close I thought it would be a fun idea to create an Olympic person in the spirit of Keith Haring!
I wanted to share this lovely shadow patterned nature shot.
The blanket of white does offer a nice background..... if nothing else :)
